I’m going to sound super old right now but, wow! that was a fast month!! I’ve been pretty quiet because frankly, I’m not doing anything “fun”. Typically January is the month that I’m heavily into all the admin duties of running a business. Tax prep, cleaning and organizing and basically, hibernating. After the Christmas rush I tend to lay low in January putting my house back in order and purging. (is there anything greater than organizing a closet??) It’s also the month where I tinker with my website and {try} to get all my image files organized. We had a spot of snow one day and I was feeling a bit restless so I grabbed my camera and hit the road to see if I could find some horses. I didn’t hold out much hope that I’d find any since it was in the teens and it was pretty cold for them to stray too far from the warmth of the barns. I did see a few but nothing I could get a clear shot of so I packed it in and went home to enjoy some hot chocolate and regain the feeling of my fingers.
Mid January the weatherman promised a “warm” day so I packed it all up and walked around downtown for a few hours. I did scope out a few cool nooks that I’d love to do a shoot in and basically, I froze to death! It was crazy windy and I’m not sure it ever got over 30 degrees. While that isn’t super frigid, you have to consider that I was strolling around (underdressed) surrounded by concrete. Even though I had my camera bag strapped to my back I found that I forgot to take many photos because I was just too busy looking at everything. That isn’t all together a bad thing, it’s just very inconvenient when you are supposed to have something to show for your day. I do have a few to show, nothing extraordinary, but things that caught my eye at the time.
I love all of the murals downtown and graffiti walls. This was an awesome pop of color on a super cloudy day
not the greatest quality on this one since my hands were basically numb at this point. I was drawn by the lines though and couldn’t resist
a different perspective from the parking garage. It had rained for days and I snapped this as I was loading my car
I hope you had a fabulous January!
